The ECOWAS delegation today, September 10, 2021 met with Guinea’s Military leaders headed by Colonel Mamady Doumbouya. The group also took the opportunity to meet with the recently deposed President, Alpha Conde.
The ECOWAS delegation was led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of ECOWAS, the Minister of Affairs of Burkina Faso and the Chairman of the Sub-Regional Organization Commission.
“We have indeed, at the request of the heads of state of ECOWAS, carried out a mission in Guinea. We had meetings with the National Committee for Recovery for Development (CNRD), headed by Mamady Doumbouya. We also had the opportunity to meet the former president Alpha Condé, we exchanged with him “, Jean Claude Kass Brou, the president of the ECOWAS commission stated
He continued, “As it is the heads of state who have asked us to come, we will report to the head of state on the results of our discussions,”. When asked how the Alpha Conde is doing in detention, Mr. Brou told reporters that the former president is doing fine.
Earlier today, EYEGAMBIA’s media partner in Conakry, Star21 TV reported that Guineans are protesting against ECOWAS sanction on the country. Many Guineans and Africans argue that the regional body should have intervened at a time when Alpha was manipulating the constitution to stay in power longer than the two-third limit.
