The sudden passing of African-American Relationship Advisor has sparked divided opinion in regards to his legacy. Some people on social media felt that Kevin’s perspective on relationships and marriages in the black community is a direct attack against black women while others praise him for speaking the ‘hard truth’ on issues affecting the black family unit.
“It is rare to find people like Samuel in our generation of sensitivity, where feelings is all that matters. Honest people are seen as mean because society sugar coat everything.;” One female commented
However, Liberal writer Ernest Owen expresses a different opinion in the wake of Kevin’s passing, “Kevin Samuels has made a career off of shamelessly disgracing Black women for profit. He emboldened the most toxic individuals to project tired and harmful narratives about Black women. Dead or alive, what a disgraceful life to live. That’s all I’ve got for that misogynist.”
To many of his followers, Kevin was a man who wasn’t afraid to speak the truth and that he should be celebrated for bringing the male perspective in the discussion surrounding relationships and marriages at a time when the black unit is considered ‘broken’ by many. Kevin passed away on May 5th, at the age of 53-years-old after a brief chest pain.
