Famous for his music, Gambian rapper, ST Singhateh has sponsored a children’s program in a local Gambian community. The program which is called “Keep the children off the streets program” is hosted by the Daranka Future Academy, in Daranka village, with over ten football academies from, Daranka, Lamin, Kerewan, Mandinary and Banjulinnding taking part in it.
Speaking to Eye-Gambian, Nababu, one of the program coordinators, underscored the importance and purpose of this initiative “ Our aim is to bring the children together, through football, teach them about the values of life, culture, and other responsibilities, therefore we give every academy a theme to read before their every game.”
Mr. Nenet also went on to thank the tournament’s sponsor ST, whom he refers to as a friend and a wonderful person “On behalf of all my colleagues running the program and the children, I thank ST from the depth of my heart, we wrote to others but he was the only person that responded, he attended the final of the first phase and donated Ten thousand dalasis, he is like a friend to me, we wish him more success in his career, he is still young and with things like this, he will only grow bigger and better. “ he concluded.
Two months ago, the children under thirteen had their turn, now, it’s the turn for those below eleven and nine.
The games will take place at the Daranka primary school field, every weekend, beginning this Saturday 17th.
