Burkina Faso: Blaise Compaore gets life sentence for the assassination of African hero, Thomas Sankara.

The former President of Burkina Faso and a long-time ally to France has been sentenced to life for the murder of African hero, Thomas Sankara.

The trial which lasted for six-months put to rest to one of most painful Presidential assassination in post-colonial Africa as Sankara’s development model and self-determination agenda would have been a good case study for the rest of the continent

Sankara was murdered in 1987 by a hit squad along side 12 other associates, a plot that brought Blaise Compaore to power until he ousted in 2014 through a public uprising.
