Can’t wait to go back to Ghana: Singer Ari Lennox replies critics of her pro-Ghana post

Recall that, Black American Rhythm and Blues singer, Ari Lennox was severely bullied and eventually forced to delete her posts after saying Ghana is the most beautiful place in the world; a comment which attracted massive criticism.

The Grammy-nominated R&B/ Soul Female singer spent some time in Ghana for a performance at the Afrochella festival which took place on December 28, 2021. After the music festival, she used the opportunity to tour Ghana’s capital, Accra.

After witnessing the beautiful places in the capital as against the narrative out there, she took to her social media handle to express her satisfaction and experience. “Yea Ghana is the most beautiful country in the world. Wow it’s a rare and good feeling to consistently wake up with peace and happiness. I really owe that to Ghana.” she wrote.

She went further to write about her strong connection with her ancestors and in the post, she stated how she cried on the day she visited a beach. She wrote, “I’ll never forget suddenly crying the first time going to a beach in Ghana. It was so triggering. And I didn’t feel alone. My heart ached/aches for my ancestors. Ghana is my ancestral home. It was a surreal experience.”

The visit to her was therapeutic as it was an escape from anxiety and depression. Unfortunately, the posts got unexpected backlash and reaction from Tweeps. However, the singer remained unperturbed about the backlash.

In a recent post, she affirmed her stance on Ghana and stated her willingness to revisit the country. “Not Africans babe trolls. In the real world, I was welcomed and loved on and embraced. Can’t wait to go back to Ghana!!! And many other countries too.” She wrote.
