Barely 24 hours after Passengers onboard the Abuja-Kaduna train in Nigeria were attacked by terrorists leaving several casualties, a second strike has been recorded.
According to local media, the first attack left many people killed whilst others were injured. The initial attack reportedly happened around 7.45pm at Dutse village, somewhere around Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna.
Narrating the incident, Nigeria outlets said bombs planted on the rail tracks exploded and was followed by gunshots from the terrorists along the way.
Not quite long after the incident, social media was agog with tweets from some passengers in the train. Such posts include one Dr. Chinelo Nwando Megafu whose tweet went viral after she stated she had been shot and needed prayers. Unfortunately, she succumbed to death.
According to eyewitnesses, after the terrorists gained access into the train, there was exchange of gunshots between them and the policemen who were attached to the train.
At the moment, the number of casualties involved in the tragic incident is not known but reports have made mention of the kidnap of a pregnant woman and her baby.
The Nigerian army were said to have intervened after about an hour and their presence caused the dispersion of the terrorists.
Surviving victims of the tragic incident have so far been taken to the 44 Nigerian Army reference Hospital in Kaduna for further treatment.
