Ethiopian troops recapture two key cities as they pursue Tigray rebels Up North

A statement from the Ethiopian government revealed that, the forces have recaptured two more cities in their quest to deal with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) expanding the area so far taken over by the national troops.

The government said “the historic town of Dessie and Kombolcha, a trading and industrial city, have been liberated by the valiant security forces.”

Legesse Tulu, the government’s spokesperson earlier identified some towns taken over by the forces prior to this new recapture.

“In Shewa front, the Mezezo, Molale, Shewa Robit, Rasa and its surroundings have been freed from the terrorist TPLF,” he said

This new achievement is a promise come true as Legesse earlier told Ethiopians that, the troops will “in a short period of time” take over areas such as Dessie and Lalibela which they captured in an earlier raid. This has been fulfilled partially as the forces truly retook Dessie.

These efforts deemed as victories followed the action taken by the Nobel Prize winning Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to join the battlefield as a motivation to the troops.
