Former Tunisian first lady Chardlia dies on election day

Chardlia farhat has died today Sunday, the very day her country is going to the polls to select the successor to her late husband who died around two months ago.

“My mother Chadlia, widow of Béji Caïd Essebsi, is dead, God bless her,” was the message posted on Facebook by one of the late couples son Hafedh Caïd Essebsi, she was 83 years old.

The couple had two daughters and two sons, including Hafedh, who took over the party founded by his father, Nidaa Tounes.
