Four Chinese nationals arrested over the maltreatment of a Kenyan employee

Information reaching EYEGAMBIA indicates that Kenyan authorities have arrested four Chinese nationals at the Chez Wou restaurant on Sunday, the 9th of February, 2020.

This followed the public demand for justice for Mr. Simon Oseko, the Kenyan employee who was lashed by his Chinese boss. Police officers from the Kenyan Directorate of Criminal Investigation raided the Restaurant and arrested one Mr. Den Hailan, who was the main suspect seen lashing the victim in the video. According to the police. Aside the assault case leveled against Mr. Den, he will equally be charged for operating without a valid permit.

 

Three other suspects who work in the same restaurant were arrested. Two among the three, identified as Chang Yueping and Ou Qiang were arrested on grounds of expired visas whilst the third person, who is the current cashier at the restaurant was also taken for working with a visitor’s visa, with no work permit.

Commenting on the issue, the Chinese embassy in Kenya stated that, “we support the Kenyan police to investigate the whole issue thoroughly, according to Kenyan laws. Whoever is violating the laws will face the legal consequences”.

The suspects have been taken to the Kilimani police station and Investigations have already commenced into the case.
