Grammy Awards: Two Nigerian super stars, Burna Boy and Wizkid win big

Two Nigerian musicians made headways at the recently held Grammy awards; afrobeats star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has won the Best Global Album at the 63rd edition of the Grammy Award with his ‘Twice as Tall’ album.

Burna Boy’s ‘Twice as Tall’ won the category over records by FU Chronicles by Antibalas, Agora by Bebel Gilberto, Love Letters Anoushka Shankar, and Amadjar by Tinariwen. 

The Nigerian and global super star said in his acceptance speech that, “This is a big win for my generation of Africans all over the world.” 

“This should be a lesson to everyone that no matter where you are and no matter what you plan to do, you can achieve it, no matter where you from . You are a king. Look at me now. Grammy Award winning Burna Boy.” He added.
The Afrobeat star has really worked hard over the years. This is the second consecutive year Burna Boy has been nominated for the Grammys and he has finally won.

His popular ‘Twice as Tall’ album was produced by some hardworking producers such as The album was produced by Telz, P2J, Timbaland, Leriq, Rexxie, Skread, Andre Harris, Jae5, Mike Dean.

It was a win-win for Nigeria as Starboy Wizkid also won Best Music Video award with his Brown Skin Girl featured on Beyonce’s The Lion King: The Gift.
