Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, has continued their reign as Africa’s number one female basketball team. This they proved as they defeated Mali at the final of the just concluded 2021 women Afrobasket (FIBA) in Yaounde, Cameroun.
D’Tigress kept their title when they defeated their opponent at a score of 70-59 in the final match on Sunday night. With this victory in their portfolio, they have successfully lifted the Women’s Afrobasket title for the third consecutive time.
The game saw the Nigerian team win the first quarter by 22-11 points, while the Malians took a revenge in the second quarter, winning the quarter with 13-9 points. At half-time, it was 31-24 points in favour of D’Tigress.
In the third quarter, D’Tigress were still dominating, and it was a massive win for the Nigerians. At the end of the quarter, Nigeria was winning with 28-14 points.
In the fourth quarter, The Malians came in with so much determination to turn the game around in their favour. Despite the fact that they put up a good performance winning the quarter with 21-11 points, it was not enough to secure them a victory. At full time, it was Mali 59- Nigeria 70.
