President of Russia, Vladimir Putin says the Relations between Russia and Ghana are traditionally of a friendly nature. He made the remark in a congratulatory letter he wrote to the West African country on Sunday, March 6th, 2022.
“The relations between Russia and Ghana are traditionally of a friendly nature. I am convinced that, further development of a constructive bilateral dialogue and partnership meets the interest of our peoples, contributing to the peace and security on the African continent,” Putin said.
He also congratulated Ghana for its 65th anniversary. “Please accept my sincere congratulation on the occasion of the National holiday of the republic of Ghana – the Independence Day,” he wrote.
“I wish you good health and every success, as well as happiness and prosperity to all your compatriots. Respectively, Vladimir Putin,” he added.
Putin’s letter erupted massive reactions on social media due to the fact that, Ghana was one of the African countries which joined western allies to condemn his invasion of Ukraine.
The country’s foreign minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey said “Ghana condemns unreservedly this unprovoked attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a United Nations Member State and calls on Russia to withdraw and end the war”.
