Wizkid at the center of controversy after performing for President Biya’s daughter

The Cameroon first family flew in Nigerian super-star musician Wizkid to perform for them on new year’s eve. However, when pictures of the event appeared on social media, a huge debate was started especially on twitter, with most accusing the first family of using taxpayer’s money for family use.

The party occurred in Douala and was ought to be a private event, held for the first daughter, Brenda Biya, but some-how, pictures and videos of the event got out and were posted on social media, the First Lady Chantal Biya was seen in attendance, the singer, Wizkid was seen performing
“Joro” in the company of a number of ladies with Christmas trees and gifts also captured.

Wizkid had announced that he was going to be in Cameroon on eve of the New Year 2020 for a show in Yaounde, but he did not mention performing for the first family, the star had earlier taking part in the opening of a new restaurant before going on to perform for the Biyas.

Mr. Biya has been in power since 1982, making him one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders. Under his rule, Cameroon has survived an economic crisis and moved from being a one-party state to multi-party politics.
